$400K Grow Seized

In California, medical marijuana is legal. Selling it is somewhat legal. But growing it is not so legal, particularly if you grow a lot of it.

Some alleged suppliers found that out the hard way this week.

The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department says narcotics investigators assigned to its Walnut/San Dimas team somehow zeroed in on a Walnut residence in the 20200 block of Burnt Tree Lane early Wednesday evening.

A surveillance operation turned up enough evidence to convince a judge to let the narcs bust in and take a look, the department stated.

Sheriff’s officials said:

An elaborate and dangerous marijuana grow system was discovered at the location where approximately two thousand dollars in U.S. currency and 403 marijuana plants at various stages of growth were seized. Equipment used in the production of illegal marijuana and other equipment used to attempt to prevent the odor from filtering out of the residence were also documented at the location.

Not only that, but the place was allegedly wired illegally, deputies said. They said it was a fire hazard, and Southern California Edison officials were called to the scene.

Two people were arrested in connection with the grow. The plants were worth an estimated $ 400,000, the detectives said.

The investigation into the alleged operation, deputies said, was “ongoing.”
