Shooter Dev Cave Releasing Original iPhone/iPad Game
A new iPhone/iPad game is coming to the App Store this fall from Cave. Entitled Mushihimesama Bug Panic, the new game stars Bug Princess Reco, the same character from Mushihimesama Futari, a bullet-hell shooter from Cave that was released for arcades in 2006 and then on Xbox 360 in Japan last year.
Neither the press release nor the game’s teaser site (which has a trailer lacking any sort of information whatsoever) actually comes out and says exactly what kind of game Bug Panic is; the official site simply categorizes it as “bug busting action.” We do, however, know it’s a shooter, as the game was actually originally announced as an iPhone/iPod Touch game at the Winter 2009 Cave Festival, according to Andriasang. Cave itself has referred to the game as a “multi-directional shooter,” which sounds about right when taking a look at the gameplay demonstration in the video above from late last year.
Now that the game is further along, Cave has announced a fall release date and worldwide availability, but only certain iOS devices will be able to run it. Among those able to run the game are the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad, and 3rd Gen iPod Touch. Don’t expect the game to come in at a $ 1 or $ 2 price, as many App Store games do; both of Cave’s other iPhone games, Espgaluda II and Dodonpachi Resurrection, currently cost $ 8.99 each.
