Nike Makes Waves with Kyrie X SpongeBob Collection

Nike and Viacom Nickelodeon Consumer Products (VNCP) have announced the launch of the Kyrie x SpongeBob SquarePants collection. The collection features five shoes inspired by the signature characters from SpongeBob SquarePants, as well as apparel and accessories, including t-shirts, a hoodie, socks and backpacks. The crossover is the latest part of the show’s 20th anniversary celebration to kick off this year.

Basketball superstar Kyrie Irving’s latest collection is suited for on-court competition and off-court jellyfishing with dedicated colorways for favorite characters. The three high-top sneakers in the collection showcase the signature Kyrie 5 silhouette in bright yellow for SpongeBob, pink and green tones for Patrick and turquoise accents for Squidward. The low-cut silhouette of the Kyrie Low 2 pays homage to the currency-crazy crustacean, Mr. Krabs, as well as a Sandy Cheeks version with colors inspired by her iconic space suit.

“What makes our collaboration with Kyrie and Nike so special is that we are celebrating SpongeBob’s 20th Anniversary with one of SpongeBob’s biggest genuine fans,” said Jose Castro, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Collaborations, VNCP. “Everything from the characters Kyrie chose and how they were designed into the line was done from a true fan’s perspective, and it shows. The sneakers, clothes and accessories became extensions of SpongeBob’s world, and we know fans everywhere will love this collection, just as much as we loved creating it with Kyrie.”

Kyrie x SpongeBob SquarePants will be available in adult and kids sizes from August 10 on Nike.com and in-store. In Europe, the collection will also be available at Kickz stores

Torrid Betty Boop x Project Runway All Stars collection

A new range of apparel is allowing plus-size fashionistas to show their love for the original animated vamp as Torrid has launched the exclusive Betty Boop x Project Runway All Stars collection. The announcement was made during the Feb. 8 broadcast of Project Runway All Stars on Lifetime, in coordination with Hearst’s King Features — exclusive worldwide licensing agent for Betty Boop proprietor Fleischer Studios. Contestants were challenged to create a look inspired by the iconic character, with the chance to have their design sold at Torrid.

The winning look from designer Joshua McKinley was the inspiration for the full line, now available at select Torrid stores nationwide and Torrid.com. The playful-yet-trendy five-piece collection includes an “I Love Betty” tee, “Betty Boop Cold Shoulder” tee, cardigan, “Betty Boop Kisses” midi skirt and a retro style dress; the items in the collection are priced between $ 38 – $ 75.

“At her core, Betty Boop is confident, stylish and proud to be a curvy woman, so we’re very excited to be launching her first-ever plus size fashion collection,” said Carla Silva, VP and Global Head of Licensing at King Features. “And we couldn’t have asked for a better partner than Torrid, inclusive fashion experts who provide their consumers with style, not just sizes, ensuring they wear what they love.”

The always inspirational character has featured in previous collaborations with top brands and designers such as Zac Posen, M·A·C Cosmetics, Moschino, Lazy Oaf and A Bathing Ape as well as Jean Paul Gaultier, Supreme New York, Lancome, Yves Saint Laurent, and more. Betty Boop was also featured in a two-page spread in the May 2017 issue of ELLE Magazine with an updated look and vision of Betty Boop as a millennial woman.

South Dakota Enters Final Month for Signature Collection

In the final weeks of signature collection, New Approach South Dakota is pushing forward to reach their goal. Two petitions are being circulated — one petition seeks to legalize marijuana for medical uses and the other to legalize certain amounts of marijuana for adult use and to regulate and tax marijuana establishments.

These ballot measures are of critical importance since the South Dakota Legislature has only taken a symbolic step toward patient access. A bill passed during the last session would hypothetically allow patients access to CBD oil, but the law includes a requirement that any recommended CBD oil be approved by the Food and Drug Administration, which would indefinitely curtail access to the oil in South Dakota.

Furthermore, South Dakota’s marijuana possession laws may be the nation’s harshest. Specifically, individuals who have consumed marijuana elsewhere are subject to penalty if they test positive for past use — even if they consumed marijuana in a state where it was legal!

November 6 is the date to submit signed petitions, so if you haven’t added your signature, there is still a bit of time left! Check out New Approach South Dakota’s Facebook page for most up-to-date information on signing locations and events!

Halo’s Zombies Mode Might Be Coming to Xbox One Master Chief Collection

The next new game mode for Xbox One‘s Halo: The Master Chief Collection could be “Infection.” In a Halo Waypoint post today, 343 Industries teased that it may soon have news to share regarding the zombie-themed mode coming to last year’s Halo collection.

“The playlist team continues to work on future updates, and it’s quite likely that we’ll be talking more about things like Infection in the coming weeks,” the developer said.

Infection was originally introduced in 2007’s Halo 3 and was also featured in Halo: Reach. In it, one player starts as an infected and tries to kill every living player, spreading the infection until there is just one player left. Halo 4 featured a version of Infection called Flood.

343 has continually added new playlists to The Master Chief Collection since launch in November 2014. The latest was the beloved Action Sack, which arrived earlier this month. People are loving it.

“Since its release, it’s been consistently ranked towards the top, and for a few days this past week, it even saw more players than any other playlist,” 343 said. “While featured playlists generally draw in a substantial crowds during their first few days, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it continue to do well, and hope that you’re enjoying the wacky and often nonsensical chaos it offers.”

343 also said that it is also currently working on the next content update for The Master Chief Collection, but didn’t share any details regarding what might be included.

“We’re continuing to keep a very close eye on your feedback on Waypoint, Twitter, r/Halo, and elsewhere, and prioritizing items within the next update based on said feedback,” the developer said. “Look for more details as we get closer to the release.”

Painting in Dutch royal collection was Nazi loot: official report

(Reuters) – The Dutch Royal Family owns a painting by a Dutch master that was looted during by the Nazis during Germany’s occupation of the Netherlands in World War Two, according to a report published on Tuesday.

“One painting was found where there were indications of involuntary loss of possession during the German occupation,” the government said in a statement after an inquiry commissioned by the Royal Family that examined tens of thousands of paintings in the Royal Collection.

Officials had contacted the heirs of the original owner, who was not named, to arrange the return of “The Hague Forest with a View of Huis ten Bosch Palace”, by the 17th century painter Joris van der Haagen.

The work was bought for the Royal Collection by Queen Juliana, grandmother of reigning King Willem-Alexander.

The inquiry found that another painting in the collection, “Landscape with St. Hubert”, whose provenance had been regarded as doubtful, was not stolen.

Xbox One Master Chief Collection Bundle Revealed

Microsoft on Monday announced a new Xbox One bundle focused around the Halo franchise.

The Halo: The Master Chief Collection Bundle includes a system (no Kinect) and a digital copy of The Master Chief Collection. The Xbox One game comes with remastered versions of Halo 1-4 as well as access to extra goodies such as Ridley Scott’s Halo: Nightfall and more.

The $ 350 bundle will be available at retailers worldwide this month. Microsoft cautions, however, that you should check in with your local retailer for further details regarding availability.

The Master Chief Collection was negatively impacted by bugs and other technical problems upon its release in November 2014. For some, the problems–mostly affecting the game’s multiplayer mode–were so severe that players could not find matches, or if they could, those matches were lopsided. The game’s problems have now been largely eradicated, which may at least partially explain why Microsoft is launching this bundle now instead of last year.

Wow, This 360-Piece Silent Hill World Record Collection Is Impressive

One Silent Hill fan is now recognized as having the world’s largest collection of items based on Konami’s horror series. Whitney Chavis’ collection of 360 items–spanning games, toys, clothing, props, and more–has won her an official world record, certified by the Guinness Book of World Records. You can see a video of her massive Silent Hill collection above.

Chavis says in an interview with Konami that she’s been a fan of the Silent Hill series since the first game was released in the United States in the late 1990s. She says the game’s “unique music, atmosphere, and stunning CGI still stuck with [her] months later, and since then has been one of [her] most treasured and favored games.”

She says her favorite game in the series is the original. “It is the one that got the whole thing started, after all,” Chavis said. Though her Silent Hill collection is now famous, she says she didn’t get truly serious about collecting until 2004, when she picked up a James and Nurse statue and the European Silent Hill 3 retail poster. “I didn’t even realize there was that sort of Silent Hill merchandise out there before then!” she says.

Chavis’ Silent Hill collection includes obscure items like cloth banners and various props. One of the rarest items in her collection is the Seal of Metatron from the movie Silent Hill Revelation. This was sent to her from Paul Jones, who worked on the film.

Though she’s already won a world record for her Silent Hill collection, Chavis says she doesn’t plan on ending her hunt for more items anytime soon. Among the items she wants to add to her collection are the 2001 Konami Style James Jacket and the Japanese Silent Hill 2 Forbidden Poster that was included as a preorder bonus for the game in Japan.

The next entry in the Silent Hill series from Konami is a game called Silent Hills, which stars The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus. Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima is working on the game with Pan’s Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection will grant access to the Halo 5 multiplayer beta

Halo: Combat Evolved’s multiplayer will forever be my personal favorite, despite all the improvements that the series has made since. Even if the default pistol is way too good at long-distance headshots, everybody’s got one, so it’s totally fair! I’m sure many of you have fond memories of your favorite online Halo experience, which you probably thought were a thing of the past. But thanks to Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One, some of your most beloved Halo multiplayer experiences are making a comeback.

Yep, all those rumors were true. Every game starring Master Chief–Halo: Combat Evolved, 2, 3, and 4–is being bundled onto a single Xbox One disc, running at 60fps in 1080p. Halo 2 is also getting special attention with the full Anniversary Edition treatment, meaning high-res textures and improved lighting (though you can switch back to the original visuals at will, now at near-instant speed). But what’s most exciting for me is that the multiplayer experience for all four games will be united under a single interface and bolstered by dedicated servers. Better yet, these online experiences will be one-to-one ports of their respective engines–meaning that beloved bugs-turned-tactics like Halo 2’s BXR technique will be restored in full.

If you’re more interested in the series’ single-player campaigns, you’ll be able to play any mission from any of the four games in any order, on any difficulty. That’s a lot of any. Halo 2 will also include new terminals that hint at Halo 5’s story–perfect for Halo lorehounds. To top it all off, The Master Chief Collection grants access to the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta, which is slated to start in December 2014.

Expect additional assets shortly!
