Resistance’s Website Taken Offline Following Hacking

MyResistance down

Not even a week after the official Steam forums were taken offline following their defacement, Sony has been forced to do the same with the official website and forums for the Resistance franchise.

MyResistance.net and the accompanying free-to-play Global Resistance game are currently inaccessible. According to Kotaku, Sony took them offline following reports of the site distributing malware, presumably at the behest of hackers.

Kiera Knightley Googles Rick Santorum: ‘My Innocence Has Been Taken Away’ (VIDEO)

Kiera Knightley, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'At the recent debate featuring presidential candidates from the Republican side, none of the big names like Sarah Palin and Donald Trump showed up. Instead, it was candidates you might have to Google to get an idea of who they are, according to Jon Stewart on ‘The Daily Show’ (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central).

“Although, I guess the last guy would prefer you didn’t do that,” Stewart said, referring to former Senator Rick Santorum. Santorum came under fire when he pushed for government regulation against consensual sexual acts between homosexuals.

That led to a contest to create a definition for the word “santorum” that would horrify Santorum. The NSFW winning definition — which you can find by clicking the term above if you really want to know — is indeed a little disturbing, and Kiera Knightley agreed.

The actress came on for her regular interview spot and opened by saying, “I just Googled Santorum. I feel like my innocence has been taken away. It was the use of the word frothy.”

When asked if she thought the whole scandal might hurt his chances at the Republican nomination, Knightley indicated it might do just the opposite. “Maybe that’s a great thing,” she said.

At least Santorum was demonized for ideas rather than actions. Certain sectors of society would support him even stronger as a perceived “victim” of this contest that sought to destroy his name.

Sony Online Entertainment Service Taken Offline

Sony Online EntertainmentSony Online Entertainment’s gaming service, Station.com, has been temporarily taken offline. Just as PSN is scheduled to begin coming back online this week, this downtime comes in response to an issue discovered during an investigation regarding the recent attack on the SOE service.

By now you’ve likely heard all about the attack on Sony’s PlayStation Network which resulted in an intruder gaining access to PSN users’ personal data and possibly credit card information. Just yesterday Sony announced a “welcome back” program that will reward PSN for their patience with 30 days of PlayStation Plus membership and some free downloads, among other things. Certain aspects of PSN (including online gaming and friends lists) are scheduled to go back online this week.

Following an admission of the breach, it was noted that SOE — which operates online games on PC and PS3 like DC Universe Online, Free Realms, and Everquest — had briefly gone offline “due to an external attack.” An investigation was said to be underway along with a reassurance that it believed no personal information was stolen in the attack. Today’s notice that Station is offline could be cause for alarm, but at this point anything that can be said about it would be purely speculation. SOE revealed a plan last week to make up for the service interruption.
