The Uncharted film being worked on by writer and director David O. Russell is likely to change dramatically in the future, as Russell has reportedly left the project.

That’s according to Variety, which cites “creative differences” as the cause for his departure. It’s not the first time the movie has found itself in this sort of position; last year, negotiations between Russell and the studio fell apart before he officially came on board later in the year.

Russell has worked as a director and writer on a number of films previously including Three Kings and The Fighter. The latter starred Mark Wahlberg, the same man chosen to play the role of Uncharted protagonist Nathan Drake in the film adaptation. He beat out Nathan Fillion, of Firefly fame, who had been the popular choice for the role. There had also been talks of Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci appearing in the film to play Drake’s father and uncle, two characters who are not in the videogames.
